Celebrating Light In The Atticās 10 year anniversary in 2012, we are releasing a series of very special colored vinyl 7ās and digital downloads. The series features contemporary artists covering a track reissued by Light In The Attic on the A-side, plus the original version on the B-side. This disc features Mark Lanegan covering Karen Dalton.
[[Release Description]]Celebrating Light In The Atticās 10 year anniversary in 2012, we are releasing a series of very special colored vinyl 7ās and digital downloads. The series features contemporary artists covering a track reissued by Light In The Attic on the A-side, plus the original version on the B-side.
On this release, Mark Lanegan applies his tobacco-flavored tones to āSame Old Manā, a traditional made famous by the haunting New York singer-songwriter Karen Dalton. What Dalton achieves with the traditional instruments of America (notably her celebrated banjo) in her 1971 arrangement, Lanegan re-imagines with strings, droning Indian tones, sitars and sub-continent-sized production.
A side is produced by Alain Johannes and recorded at 11 AD, Los Angeles, CA, July 2012. B side features the original Karen Dalton version as remastered by Dave Cooley for our reissue of her āIām My Own Timeā album from 1971.
[[Selling Points]]- Limited edition 7" series on smokey-blue vinyl with custom LITA juke-box style sleeve in a poly bag with custom die-cut sticker.
- Other artists in the series include Iggy Pop & Zig Zags covering Betty Davis, Sweet Tea (feat.
