The second album Laideronnette by matryoshka, which sold out immediately upon its original release, is now being reissued in a luxurious format: a 2LP set on heavyweight gold vinyl.

Their first album zatracenie, released in 2007, achieved remarkable sales through word of mouth despite the duo being virtually unknown at the time. Five years later, they released their second album Laideronnette, featuring majestic strings, gentle piano, rhythms that feel both inorganic and organic, melancholic vocals, and meticulously arranged noise.

The sound, melodies, and overall worldview all deepen, allowing the darkness of their earlier work to resonate with the new light that has begun to break through. Named after “the world’s ugliest queen”—a reference to “Laideronnette, Empress of the Pagodas” from Ravel’s Mother Goose suite the album unveils a beautiful, unfamiliar abyssal world each time it plays.
