Grand Seiko
Designed and published by ERG Media, in collaboration with Grand Seiko.
Grand Seiko is a comprehensive editorial exploration of one of contemporary watchmaking’s most respected manufacturers. Created in close collaboration with Grand Seiko, the book traces the brand’s evolution from its founding in 1960 to its present-day position as a global reference for precision, craftsmanship, and design.
Photographed on location across Japan and at the Grand Seiko New York Boutique—the brand’s largest global flagship store—the book offers rare access to the environments where Grand Seiko watches are conceived and made. From the Studios of Shinshu and Shizukuishi to the landscapes that surround and inspire them, Grand Seiko examines how place, nature, and human ingenuity shape Grand Seiko’s distinctive approach to watchmaking.
Combining original photography, archival imagery, and detailed timelines, the book presents a complete chronology of Grand Seiko’s history. It explores key milestones in mechanical watchmaking, the development of high-precision quartz movements, and the creation of Spring Drive—one of modern horology’s most distinctive technical achievements—alongside the artisans and designers responsible for bringing these innovations to life.
Designed with the same discipline and attention to detail that define Grand Seiko, each copy is conceived as a lasting object and as a testament to the horology explored within. The large-format hardcover volume is housed in a wood slipcase, referencing the architectural language and materials of Grand Seiko’s flagship boutiques. This motif continues as a subtle texture on the deep blue linen cover. Inside, four premium paper stocks and multiple printing techniques showcase more than 200 original and archival high-resolution images, including a comprehensive visual overview of every contemporary caliber and reference.
